My First Tattoo

My First Tattoo
Finally Finally i have succesfully got my first tattoo done.
This is a Chinese symbol for
TWINS - to be born as twins
pronunciation: luan sheng
This is for my twin sister who is no longer with us. This is just for her..so that she can be with me forever. Yess it did hurt a bit but not as much as i thought it would. it was just like an ant is biting me continiously. It was a lovely experience for sure.
I would like to thanks all friends who have liked the tattoo

Kidnapped!

Ever thought that your Nightmare could come true!

I had just come out from a fantastic and an eventfully meeting with a guy who was a mind reader. He asked my boss to just think of the time when she was born but not speak it out loudly. Then he took out his watch and set a time. After 5 min he turned his watch to show it to us and guess what the watch was set exactly for 11:37 pm, the time when my boss was born. This freaked us out ! how could he set the exact time without even asking us or knowing it.

"What do we do now..we have another meeting in an hour?" We could not decide whether to go back to office or stay near by and go for the meeting directly.
"Oh yes i have an idea" a shrill voice came from somewhere. It was none of us who said that, so who was it, as we turned behind we saw a fairly old guy, white hair with a stick in his hand and a grocery bag , he was old but well dressed.

Who was this guy who came from no where and said such a thing to us.

"I have an idea, I stay in this building and i want to Kidnap this girl"
WHAttttt!!!!!!!!!! ya that was my expression because the girl he wanted to kidnap was no one but ME.

I dont think i even need to explain what i was feeling at that time. I just couldnt beleive my ears.
My boss held my hand and dragged me into the car and we left.

Quite weird and strange! i don't know how to describe how i felt, i was speechless and in the end just laughed and said "Oh my God i though only dreams come true, but this is like my nightmare come true"

A Company on its way !

My best friend Priya Shah who is an enthusiastic blogger and an extremely ambitious PR person has plans to start her own company. Looking at the way she works, her though process and the accuracy with which she works is not at all questionable. As her name says PRiya she has it all in her name. http://lucidlymesmerized.blogspot.com/2008/03/why-i-want-my-own-company.html

She plans to start a company where she would handle PR and I would handle the event management. This would be a company that will provide all services under one roof.
So guys its time to pull up your socks! As this company and the people behind it will have a lot to offer and challenge.

We are very ambitious until we get there - and when we do we will become achievers.

The mobile i want !

HTC Touch the next smartphone that is compared to Apple iPhone.

This is the phone i plan to but for my self.

It runs on Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. Juts like the iPhone it lets you perform many tasks by running your finger across the screen. The design is also very similar. I wouldnt say that its an imitation of the Apple iphone but something similar to what a person dreaming about getting an iphone would see it as.

HTC touch is sleek and looks mindblowing it operates on Windows 6 has a 2.0 megapixel camera , Wi-Fi, Audio/Video player. With HTC touch you access your Outlook email and the complete Microsoft Office Mobile suite. You can surf the web , chat on Messenger, and send photos it has a 1 Gb memory card......its like a mini comp. in you hand. What the phone lacks is FM radio which i would love to have.

This almost sounds like a phone review, i would love to own this handset.....just waiting for my dad to just agree to spend that much money...

Any one intersted in this phone can log onto their website http://www.htctouch.com/.

Just log on and see what a classi

Eye Donation process

Eyes one of nature's complex wonders.

Have you every seen an eye donation process.

How a doctor takes out the eyes of the dead patient to give life to another.

My roommate is an Ophthalmologist, one who is definately very passionate about her career. She tells me about her day to day work and the number of patients she operats. I always used to listen to her telling me stories about how patients were, the diffrent operation process for diffrent dieseases of the eye.

Yesterday she came back at 9:00 pm. She said she was tired and hungry. Soon after she sat down to relax she got a call, it was an E-Call. Some one had died and the family member had called as they wanted to donate the eyes of their dead mother to the eye bank. My roommate had to run and operate the dead patient.

Knowing how enthusiastic i was while asking her stuff about the eyes and the operation, to my surprise she asked me if i wanted to accompany her to the house of the family. I had no clue what to say "would i be able to see the process" , "i hope i dont get scared" , "is it sacry to see a doctor remove the eye balls from a dead body", all these question jamed my mind but i agreed.

"i hope you will not faint" she asked me before we left the house.

we reached the hospital and the family members were waiting for us, they guided us to their home where their mother had died. While walking toward the house my mind was clogged with a lot of thoughts.

Finalyy we were in the room where the dead body lay. All the members of the family left the room as they couldnt see the sight. Left in the room was Me, My roommate and the dead body.

(this is just my experience and no way to make any one scared or feel bad about the process, please do not read this if you dont want to)

My Roommate opened one eye lid of the patient and put an instrument between then so that the eye dosn't shut, then she inserted some sharp instrument into the eye directly. She started cutting the white portion around the eye, went on cutting and cutting and in a few seconds i could see the eye ball and an empty socket, she has successfully removed the eye ball from the eye socket, i went close to the dead patient and what i saw was an empty eye socket.

I didnt have any reaction on my face, i took it very normally but after a few minutes i felt that i was swetting, i could feel the sweat trickle dowm my body, this was because i was scared after seeing the operation. I needed fresh air , i quitely went out in the balcony and sat there for 2 min as i was dissy and felt that i could faint any moment, to my surprise I didnt.

I was surely in a state of mind that i cant explain , the eyes being cut, the sharp instruments cutting the eyes, the eye balls coming out, the empty eye socket , It was a sight to see. (evey while writing i can reacall the whole episode) some where i feel i was brave enough not to faint or shout seeing the procedure.

One eye ball was successfully removed now it was time for the other eye, i refused to see the other eye being operated fully and sat quietly in the room. It jus took 20 min for the dr. to get done with the process. This is definately a wonderfull procee about how the doctor removes the eye just to give others a life.

Eyes can be donated only after death. Eyes must be removed within 4 - 6 hours after death.

This was an experience of a life time.

Hats off to the family who think or donating eyes, even at the time of sorrow they think of taking such an important step so that some other individual some where can get a life that can bring a smile on the faces of millions.

Please Donate eyes ! Help an individual live.

Event management - a gr8 learning !

To some of my friends, this post should have appeared long back. But , I have been thinking about it. Finally the event is over and now I am her to vomit all about my experiences and learning from the event.

A very big chance to handle the event on my own in four cities with my boss heading.

“A kind of one man show” – I had no clue of things except what I had heard about the event on the first day in office. No one to guide me except my boss who I was totally sacred of at times, at times I just had no clue what I was doing.

Planning an event is an event in its self!

I have had an experience in all possible fields while doing this event a beginner (no clue of what the event was like), a manager (taking some decisions on my own – this was scary at time) a lawyer (sorting contracts with sponsors), an accountant (handling a budget of some thousand pounds), a post women (drafting and sending letters for the event to some 1000 of people who would never give an RSVP), a freighter (sorting out the freighting of the material to different cities), a ticket seller (selling tickets for the show and collecting revenue) , the point of contact (everyone calling me up for all kinds of details for the event – also coz my team was only me) , a last minute designer (to design the E fliers when our ad company refused to work any more with deadlines) , a carpenter – (last moment arranging of material when some ppl fail to do their job and sneak out) and a lot of other things which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. As I know this is going to help me in the future.

The thing about events is that everyone is capable of planning and executing an event. To a certain extent that is the truth. I believe that the events industry is not inaccessible; on the other hand it is quite easy to get in and to quickly obtain responsibility.
But, I am convinced that there is a line that divides those working in events randomly or amateurs from successful event managers or planners.

There are a few things that I learnt which I find very important.

“I can’t handle this” - Have Control

Internal and external. It is the most crucial part when you know you have always been the one out of control in certain situations. One is paid to keep things under control for those not able to do so. It takes few years to develop the skill to look calm when things around are crushing down. Getting into events I realized that 70% of the times things never go right but it is the matter of time. One has to learn to get things under control all the time.

“What proof do you have” – get every thing in writing

The most important lesson for me and for all the others who want to get into events or any kind of business.

“Always get everything in writing” – this is the best escape to all the questions like “What proof do you have” no matter how late you are getting for anything or even if you have to make any decision based on answers by others.

Always get it on mail or paper (for that matter even a tattered piece of paper works at times). Do not buy reasons from ppl if they say “I can’t mail now as I don’t have access to the net” or sometimes “I can’t mail as my comp is crashed” (the silliest reason one can give). You never know when ppl change their views and in the end you get #*^&%$.

“Say NO” – Be Confident!

One has to be extremely confident while answering others. Your being sweet to others is just a sign of inviting trouble for your self later. Again such confidence and ability to communicate comes with experience and trial and error.

At time one feels that only few people are able to manage things with confidence. To me that is because they’ve been frustrated many times before. These successful people are now capable of managing their frustration and others’ with confidence because they know what is required at a certain time.

There were time I was not able to give confident answers to people, this invited trouble for me and I had to do more that I was supposed to as I wasn’t confident enough. That is also because I was not capable of saying “No” to others and at the same time make them feel at ease.
What I mean is not to bluntly say no to other. Remember it’s your job and you have to do it, but at the same time learn how to say No to things that are not supposed to be done beyond your company policies and limits.

- One of the reasons why you get into such situation is that there is high expectation of clients with low budgets; this in fact is a reality.

- Second being people know getting their work done from an assistant or a junior is easier that getting it done from the head of the department (ppl can bully you at times)

“Can you please help me” – be self dependent

No body wants to do your job. Always remember that. Everyone has their own work to do. If you think some one will help you leaving their job aside for a while (trust me it will not happen unless it’s your best friend). They will do it out of shame maybe coz you asking them to but some where they might just make it worse for you.

I hope these points are helpful to you in the future.

These points are very common but one realises it only when one faces these in real life.

Event Management involves studying the intricacies of the brand, identifying the target audience, devising the event concept, planning the logistics and coordinating the technical aspects before actually executing the modalities of the proposed event.
